From Harvard— to learn about UID

BANGALORE: Look who've lined up before India's prestigious project UIDAI? Harvard students.
Two students from Harvard University completed their internship with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). They worked out of Delhi and Bangalore. "They were aware that it was a big project and wanted to know how it worked and the challenges it faced. They wanted to see various points of view on this project,'' Ashok Dalwai, deputy director general, UIDAI, said.
The students were happy and had a great experience working on the project."A lot of interest has been generated among students on this project. Those who come for internship are from prestigious institutes from India and abroad,'' he said.
During the internship programme, UIDAI will ensure interaction of the authority with young scholars form reputed academic institutions in India and abroad. Though the internship duration is a minimum of two months, the maximum will depend on the time the intern is willing to spend with the authority and the latter's requirement.
A detailed code of conduct is given to them. Certificates will be issued at the end of the internship.
Under the volunteer programme, the service given is either full-time or part- time without any remuneration. UIDAI will assess if the volunteer's service is required.
In case of a sabbatical, the applicant should be willing to offer services or work with the authority on a full-time or part-time basis. The applicants have to get necessary approval from the parent organization.
